This month's
program gave attendees the opportunity to learn more about the issues
involved in maintaining an organizational web presence. Panelists
discussed the role of webmaster in federal, commercial, and academic
institutions, addressing topics like team management, content management,
standards/technologies, and site maintenance. Although strategies
and setup differ by type of organization, all speakers agreed that
the role of webmaster is more often a collaborative endeavor rather
than the sole responsibility of one individual. Practical advice
was provided on design, new technologies, and site updating/backup.
The evening
also included a brief chapter business meeting. New chapter chair,
Ed Sawyer thanked past chair, Marcia Zeng for her contributions
to the chapter over the past year. The Treasurer's Report and results
of the NORASIS programming survey were presented, and web committee
issues were addressed.
