How do I access Kent resources from off campus?

There are two general arenas where you might wish to do this:  Library database access and personal file share access.

Databases

In order to gain access to Kent provided databases, you will have to adjust your browser of choice to make use of the campus "Proxy Server".  Instructions for doing this can be found at the Kent Main Library's website here.

File Access

At present you are unable to access Window-based file shares from off campus.  The university is investigating the possiblility of establishing personal VPN access to the campus which will allow this, but at this time it isn't possible.

You can, however access your filespace found on research.kent.edu by using the Secure Shell program.  Secure shell is an FTP-like application that creates an encrypted connection.  The Id and password you will need to use is your flashline ID and password.  Keep in mind that you will be sharing this file space with your flashline mail and the same quotas apply...
