Blackboard Vista 8

Kent State University has upgraded to Blackboard (formerly WebCT) Vista 8.0 as its course management system, providing enhanced student learning through the delivery of high quality, online education. Blackboard Vista offers a complete set of easy-to-use teaching tools for faculty and learning tools for students. From online learning modules to Web-based quizzes and assignment submission, all are options using Vista.  Students can access Blackboard Vista 8 through their Flashline account under the My Courses tab.  If you wish to review more detail about Blackboard Vista 8, you may go to http://www.et.kent.edu/elearning/bbVista/?cat=1.

The School of Library and Information science offers its selection of courses spread over a two year period. The Two-Year Course Rotations linked below list all LIS courses and the semester(s) these courses are to be offered:

• Kent Course Rotation viewable as an Excel spreadsheet in pdf format
• Columbus Course Rotation viewable as an Excel spreadsheet in pdf format

Course Locations in the Registration System

You may wish to use the Look Up Classes function in FlashLine under Student Tools.  This feature will show you the date / time of each course and workshop.  NOTE:  All SLIS courses/workshops will be listed under the Kent Campus regardless of the class location.  Building and room locations have been added for the non-Kent sites as follows:

WEB COURSE = course is entirely online; no classroom meetings

XAK SITE = location of course is in Akron

XAT SITE = location of course is at our distance learning site in Athens, OH

XCE SITE = location of course is in Cleveland

XCL SITE = location of course is at the State Library of Ohio in Columbus, OH

XCN SITE = location of course is at our distance learning site in Cincinnati, OH

XFR SITE = location of course is at our distance learning site in Franklin, OH

XLO SITE = location of course is at our distance learning site in Lorain, OH

XWL SITE = location of course is at our distance learning site in Wellston, OH

OFF SITE = another site other than Kent State or sites listed above.
