This is the official site of the student chapter of the Special Libraries Association at Kent State University's School of Library & Information Science, or SLA@KSU for short.
Welcome to the new SLA@KSU website. We have made some exciting improvements to the site this semester. The old site was great, and while we appreciate what previous members put into building the site, it was just getting to be a little cumbersome. So we've overhauled the structure and layout in an attempt to build something more simple, streamlined, and sustainable over the long-term.
To aid in the goal of sustainability, we are now hosting a blog site (using the WordPress platform, which is free and amazing). For most visitors, the blog will be the focal point of this site, allowing chapter members, students and the greater community to cultivate a rich and productive dialogue. We encourage SLIS students to subscribe to the RSS feed and to post comments. You may notice that much of the site content is duplicated on the blog platform. In the near future, this will be the primary vehicle for all site content, so if you are not finding something be sure to check sla.slis.kent.edu/blog
Select blog categories may also be accessed below. For example, if you would like to quickly view posts about upcoming events, meetings, news, etc. just click on the related links below and you will be automatically directed to an archive of relevant posts. This saves us the hassle of constantly creating new HTML pages and ensures that you will be seeing the most up to date content. Stay tuned for further developments in this area.
The calendar page is also an offshoot of the blog, and is the quickest place to check for the dates of upcoming meetings, tours, and other events. Group members and other students will find select links and internal documents on the resources page. General links may be found on the links page, and of course, if you would like contact information, visit the contact page.
We hope you enjoy the new site and welcome any feedback you may wish to contribute. This is an ongoing project so encouragement and suggestions for improvement are appreciated.
