Course Description

This course aims to give students the knowledge and skills to participate professionally in current electronic publishing activities, especially Web publishing, and to contribute to future developments in an innovative and socially responsible way.

Course Objectives

1.

to understand the nature of electronic publishing on the Web: the range of activities, the technical environment, and the social, ethical and legal issues;

2.

to survey the range of Web publishing technologies and methods available today;

3.

to understand basic concepts of generalized markup languages SGML and XML and the applications in HTML/XHTML;

4.

to develop skills in Web publishing using XHTML-1 level elements, attributes, and entities;

5.

to understand basic concepts and develop skills on graphics creation and manipulation;

6.

to become familiar with the concepts of design and evaluation of higher level web documents and applications of Web programming languages.
